Launch of Frederick Douglass in Brooklyn

BAM and Greenlight Bookstore celebrate the launch of Frederick Douglass in Brooklyn, a new compilation of original source material published by Akashic Books that illustrates the complex relationship between Frederick Douglass and the city of Brooklyn. This unique afternoon event features a reading by performer Carl Hancock Rux of speeches that Douglass gave at BAM, added context and commentary on some of Douglass’ most well-known speeches by editor Theodore Hamm, and an audience Q&A.
