Talks
Coming Out and Of Age
- 11AM
Brooklyn Borough Hall
In conjunction with The End of Eddy
Presented by BAM at the Brooklyn Book Festival
Nicole Dennis-Benn, Casey Gerald, and T Kira Madden join Alexander Chee for a conversation about their books, which each pay specific attention to how class, race, sexuality, and nationality change our sense of what a coming out story even is, and what might define a coming-of-age story now. This discussion is presented in conjunction with Édouard Louis’ autobiographically inspired novel and its stage adaptation being presented at BAM as part of Next Wave 2019.

This charismatic staging brings to life Édouard Louis’ internationally acclaimed autobiographical novel The End of Eddy, a resonant coming-of-age story that reflects on youth, sexuality, power, and freedom.
