Launch of The Choreography of Everyday Life
In conversation with Maria Popova
Co-presented by BAM and Greenlight Bookstore
How is art-making a part of our everyday and political lives as we move, together and apart, through space? Annie-B Parson, choreographer and co-founder of the Obie and Bessie Award–winning Big Dance Theater, comes to BAM to discuss her beautiful exploration of how dance is embedded everywhere, from Homer’s Odyssey to feminist art to social protest. She'll be joined in conversation by Maria Popova, writer and creator of The Marginalian. This pre-publication event also includes a reading from the book, audience questions, and a book signing.
The evening begins with an optional choreographic dance party—simple enough for beginners, stylish enough for professionals—led by Parson. Join in at 7pm to enhance your awareness of what it means to move as a body in space, or arrive in time for the reading and conversation beginning at 7:30pm.
$25 event only; $35 with book. Audience members will be among the first to have the opportunity to purchase!
All performances will adhere to protocols developed in accordance with New York State regulations and in consultation with medical professionals for the safety of our artists, audiences, and staff.
