Launch of The Choreography of Everyday Life
In conversation with Maria Popova
Co-presented by BAM and Greenlight Bookstore

Part of Unbound

How is art-making a part of our everyday and political lives as we move, together and apart, through space? Annie-B Parson, choreographer and co-founder of the Obie and Bessie Award–winning Big Dance Theater, comes to BAM to discuss her beautiful exploration of how dance is embedded everywhere, from Homer’s Odyssey to feminist art to social protest. She'll be joined in conversation by Maria Popova, writer and creator of The Marginalian. This pre-publication event also includes a reading from the book, audience questions, and a book signing.

The evening begins with an optional choreographic dance party—simple enough for beginners, stylish enough for professionals—led by Parson. Join in at 7pm to enhance your awareness of what it means to move as a body in space, or arrive in time for the reading and conversation beginning at 7:30pm.

Maria Popova
BIO
Maria Popova
Maria Popova thinks and writes about science and art, poetry and philosophy, children's books and our search for meaning — about what it means to live a life of purpose and gladness, wonder-smitten by reality. She is the creator of “The Marginalian” (born in 2006 under the outgrown name “Brain Pickings”), which is included in the Library of Congress permanent digital archive of culturally valuable materials, the author of a very thick, very yellow book titled “Figuring” and a very slender, very colorful book titled “The Snail with the Right Heart”, and the maker of “The Universe in Verse” — a charitable celebration of the wonder of reality through stories of science winged with poetry.
