Donka: A Letter to Chekhov
Written and directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca
Featuring a spectacular melding of acrobatics, juggling, clowning, and music, internationally renowned circus artist Daniele Finzi Pasca (creator and director: Corteo, Cirque du Soleil; Icaro, Compagnia Finzi Pasca) delivers an imagistic love letter to Anton Chekhov. A visually and physically stunning meditation on the legendary dramatist's writings and life, Donka: A Letter to Chekhov gives shape to his inner world: a place where dreams and reality converge. As his beloved characters parade through a fantastical interpretation of the Russia he called home, haunting strains of accordions mingle with birdsong while shadow, color, and feats of technical mastery flood the stage in this dreamlike universe.
