Ellen Carey is an educator, independent scholar, curator, photographer, and lens-based artist, whose unique experimental work spans several decades. Four works from Carey’s ongoing series Dings & Shadows—photograms created by the artist through a performative process in the dark room—will be rotated monthly on the 2016 Next Wave Festival BAMbill; the works are also on view in the Dorothy W. Levitt Lobby of the Peter Jay Sharp Building as part of the group exhibition New Photography. By contributing her work to benefit BAM’s artistic programming, Carey joins the ranks of artist Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, and Rosemarie Trockel as a BAMbill cover artist. The works are for sale through BAM Visual Art; for more information, contact visualart@BAM.org or 718.636.4101.
