BAM Visual Art presents Maeva Kounta's Modernism and Tradition as part of the DanceAfrica Festival 2017 celebration of Guinea.

Guinean painter and illustrator Maeva Kounta began drawing at a young age. In 2001, her work was featured in an exhibition at the CCF French Cultural Center and she was selected as the representative of publisher House Editions Ganndal at a workshop for illustrators in Bamako, Mali. Kounta currently resides in Conakry, Guinea.
