This exhibition features the work of 13 artists engaging in various embodiments of craft. A follow-up to the first installment of Static Cling—presented in the fall of 2014 at Penelope Gallery, Ridgewood, New York—the work included in Static Cling 2 continues the exploration of the nebulous line between craft and art, camp and sincerity, the creepy and the sentimental. These artists take advantage of both visual and conceptual short cuts to create works that live between physical and psychological realms, often incorporating laborious, repetitive motions associated with stitching, embellishing, weaving, modeling, and casting.
Co-curated by Maria Britton, April Childers, and Robin Kang.
