The Boy and the Heron
- Part of
- BAM Film 2023
With Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan (dubbed version)
Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years is a hand-drawn, original story written and directed by the Academy Award-winning director of Spirited Away. Produced by Studio Ghibli co-founder Toshio Suzuki and with a stirring musical score from Miyazaki’s long-time collaborator Joe Hisaishi, The Boy and the Heron blends wondrous flights of fancy with resonant echoes of Miyazaki’s own childhood. It tells the story of a young boy who flees Tokyo with his father during World War II and finds his way into a strange new realm where death may not be the end.
Please note: Starting December 8, screenings before 6:30pm are dubbed in English and screenings after 6:30pm are in Japanese with English subtitles. All screenings on December 7 are in Japanese with English subtitles.
