Directed by Kamal Ourahou (2023)

The first feature film from Kamal Ourahou, a director and producer born in Morocco and based since 2015 in France, illuminates the career of Nassim Lachhab, considered the first Moroccan and African professional skateboarder in history. Having filmed and edited Lachhab’s very first skateboarding videos between 2009 and 2011, Ourahou kept tabs on this groundbreaking athlete. The questions he poses in his director’s statement—“What had it been like for Nassim to rise to the forefront of the international scene, all the while wrestling with the challenges of immigration? In what way did his groundbreaking trajectory resonate with the current state of Morocco’s skate scene?”—are addressed in this exhilarating debut documentary.

Join us for a Q&A with director Kamal Ourahou following both screenings.
