Permission is required before viewing each video and for each person who will be viewing it. Additionally, you must provide the correct NYPL call number for each video, as per NYPL policy. Call numbers and available videos can be found on this website: http://catalog.nypl.org/ BAM is not responsible for listing errors on this website. On rare occasions, video may not be available for a variety of reasons. Permission is generally granted within 24 hours of the next appropriate working day.

About Access to NYPL Video: You don't need an appointment to view videos in the Dance Division's collection. You will, however, need a New York Public Library card to view materials; if you need one, you can apply for and obtain a temporary card number and PIN here: http://www.nypl.org/help/library-card#apply. When you arrive at the Library for the Performing Arts, please stop at the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor and complete the process to get a card, if applicable. If you haven't been able to apply ahead online, please stop at the Information Desk on the 1st Floor of the Library to ask for help in applying for and receiving a card. Once you've obtained a card, please come up to the 3rd floor. For recordings in the Jerome Robbins Dance Division or the Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound, go to the Audio/Visual Playback desk. For recordings in the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive, please call (212) 870-1642 to make a viewing appointment. TOFT videos are viewed in the Lucille Lortel screening room, also on the 3rd floor. You'll be asked to fill out and sign a request form, for which you'll need the call numbers, as well as the titles, of the videos you'd like to see. Our staff will then confirm you have the permissions needed to view the BAM video(s), and set you up to view all of the videos on your list. While you will have been recorded on our list of permissions received, we always encourage our patrons to bring a printed copy of any permissions received in case you are asked for it.
