DanceAfrica in the Virtual Classroom

Bring African dance and history into your virtual classroom to spark learning and self-expression! Each year,DanceAfrica in the Virtual Classroom focuses on the music and dance traditions of a select African country from the continent or diaspora—and students celebrate the customs and cultures of this country through research and dance-making.

Program comprises a full-residency of 13 workshops or a mini-residency of 5 workshops inclusive of asynchronous virtual in-class instruction and a reflection, each 45 minutes-1 hour long.

DanceAfrica in the Virtual Classroom Special Needs

This extended 14-session dance residency, led by teaching artists with experience working with diverse populations, modifies the DanceAfrica in the Classroom program for those with special needs. Students learn about cultures and customs from Africa and its diaspora, and embrace their creativity in dance and movement classes that are developmentally appropriate and responsive to each student’s abilities. Mini-residencies are available if schools prefer a shorter number of workshops.

Program comprises 14 workshops inclusive of asynchronous virtual instruction and a reflection, each 45 minutes-1-hour long.
