Students embrace the power of the spoken word in this dynamic poetry workshop, drawing inspiration from professional artists to create and share original works.
In this program, students:
- ・Watch a performance by spoken word artists Flaco Navaja and Jennifer Cendaña Armas, recorded in high-definition from BAM's production of Poetry 2016: Past is Present.
- ・Write original poetry, on their own and in collaboration with a fellow student, in a creative workshop led by a BAM teaching artist, streamed live in the classroom
- ・Learn new literary devices, research the history of hip-hop, and analyze poetry through pre- and post-show activities provided in an online study guide
This virtual workshop runs 55 minutes, including performance excerpts. Fee: $200.
