Families can deepen their engagement with DanceAfrica in this fun-filled outdoor class led by BAM teaching artist Kimani Fowlin, learning rhythms and movement from the African Diaspora.
About Kimani Fowlin
Kimani Fowlin is a dancer, choreographer, and Associate Professor, serving as Director of Dance and Chair of Theatre & Dance at Drew University. A longtime Rutgers faculty member, she received the NYSDEA Outstanding Dance Educator Award. Her international work includes performances in Russia, Ghana (Panafest), Greece, and Lebanon. She co-founded Boom!Beep!Bop!, a children’s program rooted in African Diasporic culture, and is a founding member of Black Dance Stories. Her ongoing project, Embodied Truth, explores parenting through race and gender. She also co-organized Dancing Around Race and has been a featured artist at Bates Dance Festival. She has been a BAM teaching artist for over 20 years. -

About Pat Hall: Pat Hall is an internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer, and teacher whose style is influenced by African, Caribbean, and contemporary American dance, and by ceremonial and ritual practices of indigenous peoples. She has worked with diverse populations, spanning all ages and abilities, and bringing the joy of movement to all.
