Shortly after Adam arrives in Cairo to study at the prestigious Al-Azhar University, the institution’s highest-ranking religious leader, the Grand Imam, suddenly dies. In the following days, Adam becomes a pawn in a ruthless power struggle between Egypt’s religious and political elite.
