Twenty five years after his last film, Armenian director Artavazd Pelechian offers a singular, wordless meditation on nature using his distinctive technique of “distance montage.” Drawing on amateur black-and-white found footage of both natural disasters and scenic landscapes, Pelechian builds intensity through repetition, contrast, and images of monumental scale. Volcanoes erupt, tsunamis crash, and humanity’s fragile existence is dwarfed by the planet’s raw power.
