Angel Heart

Private detective Harry Angel (Rourke) has the sweats as soon as he enters New Orleans on assignment for Louis Cyphre (a terrifyingly camp De Niro). The condition is only exacerbated by murder, voodoo, and Lisa Bonet, who said of her sex scene—so hot it had to be shortened to avoid an X rating—“filming consisted of three hours of intense lovemaking with blood pouring on us… it was a wild night.” The film doesn’t shy away from any other bodily fluids; blood, sweat, and tears all run together in this gorgeously grimy Southern Gothic.
