Countryman

Sep 20—Sep 21, 2025
    Part of
  • Classic Caribbean Cultures
  • and
  • BAM Film 2025
Directed by Dickie Jobson (1982)
With Countryman, Hiram Keller, Carl Bradshaw, Basil Keane, Kristina St Clair, Ronnie McKay
A peaceful, solitary fisherman finds himself drawn into a political plot after rescuing two Americans from the wreckage of a crashed airplane. For his efforts, Countryman is not commended, but rather branded an enemy agent, along with the two Americans from the airplane, by the ruthless General Sinclair (Basil Keane). Now, in order just to survive, the peace-loving Rastafarian must flee into the Jamaican wilderness and share his knowledge of the land with his new American friends. Dickie Jacobson directs this 1982 action/adventure gem with an undeniably stacked soundtrack featuring Lee “Scratch” Perry, Bob Marley & the Wailers, Steel Pulse, and others.
