In Creton’s 2023 film, a young man named Pierre-Joseph becomes embroiled in a throuple with two of his superiors while training as a gardener at an apprenticeship college. Muted, fragmentary, and nearly unclassifiable, A Prince shook up the Director’s Fortnight sidebar at Cannes with its limited direct dialogue and heavy use of voice over.
