Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Aug 30—Sep 2, 2025
    Part of
  • First As Tragedy, Then As Farce: Anti-Fascist Comedies
  • and
  • BAM Film 2025
Directed by Stanley Kubrick (1964)
With Peter Sellers, George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, Slim Pickens, Peter Bull, James Earl Jones, Tracy Reed, Jack Creley
In this pitch-black comedy from director Stanley Kubrick, a mentally unstable US Air Force general orders a nuclear bomb attack on Russia, prompting the US president and Soviet premier to work together feverishly in order to ward off mutually assured destruction. Starring the brilliant Peter Sellers in not one but three of his most compelling roles, Kubrick’s expertly written satire of American militarism is ridiculous, hilarious—and frighteningly relevant today.
