In MacArthur Park
Sat, Jul 26, 2025
Directed by Bruce Schwartz (1976)
With
Adam Silver
Triam Lee (Diné actor Adam Silver) is a Mojave transplant who struggles to make it amid the urban chaos and gritty decay of Los Angeles’s MacArthur Park. Desperation pushes him into a stick-up that goes horribly wrong, leading him to go on the lam: dodging racist cops, hiding in slums, and reconnecting with old friends from his reservation who are also trying to survive in the City of Angels. Director Bruce Schwartz’s rarely-screened film boasts a stunning performance by Silver (his sole on-screen credit) that drives this crime drama about the dark underbelly of Urban Native experience.

4min, Digital
Caroline Monnet (Anishinaabe) fashions a staggering collage of archival footage from Canada’s National Film Board that weaves together a dynamic look at Indigenous life in the 60s and 70s. Like the breadth and interconnections of the landscapes this short film crosses, Mobilize pulsates like a machine powered by a celebration of Indigenous survival and grit.
Featuring an introduction by series programmer Adam Piron.
