BAMkids presents Love Our Earth
Sat, Apr 18, 2026
Co-presented by Uniquely Me Creative Arts
RSVP here.
As part of an Earth Day celebration, the BAMkids program invites families to explore climate action through creativity, music, and community connection with local organizations—empowering young children to discover how their voices and everyday choices can help care for the planet.
Award-winning graphic novelist Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, creator of the beloved superhero series La Borinqueña, presents Saving Energy with La Borinqueña & Friends, an original story and interactive coloring book for children created with support from the Bronx and Brooklyn Clean Energy Hub and Somos Arte. Attendees will receive a free copy of the book, debuting at the BAMKids Earth Day Celebration on April 18, 2026.
Young readers will discover Puerto Rico’s original superhero La Borinqueña,, alongside her friends Lúz La Luminosa, who wields bioluminescent energy blasts, and the acrobatic Oro El Coquí Dorado. Through their story, these heroes inspire families to reduce energy use, practice conservation, and care for their communities and the planet.
YWCA Brooklyn LEAD offers an interactive experience introducing young learners to albedo — the measure of how much sunlight a surface reflects. Participants will explore why lighter surfaces stay cooler, why darker surfaces absorb more heat, and how sun and shade affect trees and neighborhood temperatures. This engaging program connects environmental science with climate awareness, highlighting how trees help cool and care for our communities.
Climate Families NYC offers a call-to-action project focused on solar access and Green and Healthy Schools.
Relative Arts NYC invites participants to contribute to a collaborative Flag Pledge and will read We Are Water Protectors by Carole Lindstrom, illustrated by Michaela Goade.
Compost Live with Big Reuse
Come learn how compost gives the nutrients from your food scraps back to the earth, which keeps our soils alive! Discover the community of soil critters that help make compost happen.
Ants on a Log invites families to celebrate Earth Month! Full of humor, harmony, joy, and justice, their shows are energetic, interactive, and engaging for children and adults. Throughout April, their Earth Month tour features family-friendly songs of climate justice and community.
Love Our Earth is a part of a larger climate-focused tapestry in BAM’s programming. Akin to how BAMkids empowers children to discover that their voices—and actions—matter in building a more sustainable world, the new musical Dear Everything—created by V (formerly Eve Ensler) and featuring narration by Jane Fonda—centers young people stepping up to protect their environment.
