A free screening of Attica by Stanley Nelson spotlights the 1971 prison uprising and the urgent need for change. BAMkids offers special activities for young minds. A group exhibition by Black visual artists draws inspiration from bell hooks. And the 36th Annual Brooklyn Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. features musical performances by Nona Hendryx with the Craig Harris Ensemble and Sing Harlem!, dance, speeches by civic leaders, and a keynote address from Dr. Imani Perry encouraging us to continue in Dr. King’s radical spirit.
