Frontera
Frontera
Animals of Distinction
Choreography and direction by Dana Gingras
Live music by Fly Pan Am
Visual concept by United Visual Artists
Created by Montreal choreographer Dana Gingras for her company Animals of Distinction, Frontera is a large-scale multimedia dance and music event. Set in an audio-synchronized field of light with projections designed by UK-based United Visual Artists, 10 dancers fearlessly engage in choreography that questions what space remains for the unruly, ungovernable body in an era of accelerated climate change, mass migration, and corporate surveillance. Montreal experimental-rock band Fly Pan Am accompanies the dancers live, performing a commissioned score awash in slashing guitars, psychedelic swirls, and motorik beats.
Frontera was developed with support from the Centre de Creation O Vertigo - CCOV, National Arts Centre’s National Creation Fund and co-produced by Danse Danse (Montreal), Sydney Festival, CTM Festival (Berlin) & PuSh International Arts Festival (Vancouver). This tour of Frontera was made possible with support from the Canada Council for the Arts & the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec.
