- Winter/Spring 2027
High drama, striking choreography, and stunning operatic music converge in Mark Morris’s Dido and Aeneas. A cornerstone of the visionary choreographer's canon, this landmark production has transformed his career—first when he boldly danced as both Queen Dido and her mortal enemy, the Sorceress, and later when he stepped into the pit to conduct.
For this highly anticipated return to BAM, Morris once again takes the podium to conduct the Trinity Choir and MMDG Music Ensemble in Henry Purcell’s breathtaking score, as the Mark Morris Dance Group transforms Virgil’s tale of royal passion and betrayal into a visual masterpiece. Anchored by Purcell’s heartbreakingly brilliant aria “When I am laid in earth,” every performance invents this classic anew through Morris’s singular creative lens.
