Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Jun 4—7, 2026
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
    Part of
  • Winter/Spring 2026
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has entered a new era, propelling dance in exciting new directions and pushing the bounds of what the human body and spirit can achieve.

This year’s program features a new production of Hymn, Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison's Emmy Award–winning tribute to Alvin Ailey. With a libretto by celebrated actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith and a driving, percussive score by Robert Ruggieri, the work returns to the stage for the first time in over 15 years. Following its Ailey premiere in 2025, Medhi Walerski’s Blink of an Eye pairs virtuosic movement with music for solo violin by J.S. Bach. Rounding out the program is Revelations, Ailey’s treasured meditation on grief, hope, and faith, danced to African American spirituals and informed by Ailey’s memories of childhood.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Alicia Graf Mack and Associate Artistic Director Matthew Rushing, the company’s fourth consecutive BAM season promises to be a celebration of joy, beauty, and the transformative power of dance.
