As hip-hop turns 50, we revisit this essential document on one of the form’s essential artists, told entirely in his own words.

Triple Fisher: The Lethal Lolitas of Long Island
- Part of
- BAM Film 2023 and
- Let The Record Show: Archived Cinema
In 1992, Long Island teenager Amy Fisher ignited a media firestorm when she shot the wife of her 36 year old lover Joey Buttafuoco, Mary-Jo, in the face. This sordid tale of sex, aggravated assault, and white-ethnic suburban drama with a capital D made television history when it spawned three separate made-for-TV movies. Drew Barrymore, Alyssa Milano, and Noëlle Parker all took stabs at portraying the disturbed teen, yet a cohesive portrait of Fisher never emerged.
Rejecting the pretense of a unified narrative, this Rashomon-esque work from director Dan Kapelovitz (The Threee Geniuses) mind-melds all three Amy Fisher movies into one ultimate meta-melodramatic mashup that’s both a scathing critique and celebration of early-90s tabloid culture.
