The Alleys
- Part of
- BAM Film 2023 and
- Contemporary Arab Cinema
Set in a gritty, cramped neighborhood in East Amman, Jordan, writer and director Bassel Ghandour pieces together a violent mosaic of extortion, forbidden love, and ungodly alliances in his directorial debut. The Alleys centers the relationship between a young street hustler and his more upright lover, as an ensemble of interweaving characters tries to uphold a shoddy web of violent street promises.
