Rock n Roll High School

Sep 26—Sep 30, 2025
    Part of
  • Classroom Rebels
  • and
  • BAM Film 2025
Directed by Allan Arkush & Joe Dante (1979)
With P.J. Soles, Vincent Van Patten, Clint Howard, Dey Young
The Ramones, those glue-sniffing punks from Forest Hills, are bigger than the Beatles in this giddy ode to rock and rebellion, inspiring teen free spirit Riff Randell (P.J. Sole, of Carrie and Halloween) to cut class in hopes of convincing the band to play her new song. Assisted by bookish bestie Kate Rambeau (Dey Young), Randell goes up against the iron-fisted principal of Vince Lombardi High School, Principal Togar (Warhol star Mary Woronov). Along the way, they find unexpected allies like Mr. McGree, the cultured teacher who proclaims the Ramones “the Beethovens of our time”—played by Paul Bartel, the cult actor who actually convinced executive producer Roger Corman to cast the Ramones.
