- Folklore & Fairytales and
- BAM Film 2025
Directed by Sergei Parajanov & Dodo Abashidze (1988)
With
Yuri Mgoyan, Sofiko Chiaureli, Ramaz Chkhikvadze
Based on the short story of the same name by Mikhail Lermontov, Ashik Kerib recounts the tale of an Azerbaijani minstrel who sets out on a quest of a thousand days and nights to earn sufficient wealth to marry his beloved. Conveyed with music and color more than with words by directors Sergei Parajanov (The Color of Pomegranates) and Dodo Abashidze, the film offers a faithful glimpse of Azerbaijani culture.
