Directed by Wes Anderson (2001)

Wes Anderson’s third film follows a family of eccentric geniuses who are forced back into each other’s lives when their elusive father (Gene Hackman) suddenly reappears. The Tenenbaum brood includes Chas (Ben Stiller), a successful business magnate with debilitating anxiety; Richie (Luke Wilson), a scruffy and seriously depressed tennis prodigy; and their adopted sister Margot (Gwyneth Patrow), winner of a Pulitzer Prize in grade nine who now finds herself in a loveless marriage to an odd neurologist (Bill Murray). Boasting an Academy Award nominated screenplay co-written by Anderson and longtime friend Owen Wilson, The Royal Tenenbaums is a visually splendid, surprisingly complex comedy with a melancholic heart.
