Directed by Eric Rohmer (1996)
With
Melvil Poupaud, Amanda Langlet, Gwenaëlle Simon, Aurelia Nolin, Aimé Lefèvre
Based on events from famed director Eric Rohmer’s own youth, A Tale of Summer follows amateur musician Gaspard (Poupard) to a seaside resort in Dinard, on the coast of Brittany. There, three women (Langlet, Simon, and Nolin) offer him the possibility of romance, but Gaspard’s inability to commit to any of them places all of his shots at love in jeopardy. A Tale of Summer features Rohmer’s wistful observations on indecisiveness and the fickle nature of desire, brought to life by a talented young cast in a picturesque setting.
