Cinema Paradiso

Often credited with reviving Italy’s film industry in the late 1980s, this Oscar-winning film tells the story of a mischievous and precocious boy, Totò, who falls in love with the movies, spending every spare moment hanging around the titular theater in his small Sicilian town. When the cinema is rebuilt after a devastating fire that leaves the projectionist, Totò’s mentor, permanently blind, Totò, still a child, is tapped to run the reels, and a cinematic life suddenly unfurls before him.
