Viva Viva

Jun 12—14, 2026
    Part of
  • Nuestra Escena: Punk Across Latin America
  • and
  • BAM Film 2026
Directed by Carolina Pfister (2012)
Filmed between 2003 and 2005, Viva Viva captures São Paulo’s punk scene from favelas to the city center, across generations and social divides. From Toca, a young man building his home by hand, to Elisa, an innovator of the city’s queer punk scene, Carolina follows the daily lives of punks across the city, while tracing the history of a movement that emerged under the violent grip of Brazilian dictatorship.

The June 12 screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Carolina Pfister.
