Directed by Nicolás Pereda (2026)
With
Teresita Sánchez, Rosa Estela Juárez Vargas, Luisa Pardo
In this incandescent yet barbed comic portrait of a family of musicians, a middle-aged composer named Tere (Teresita Sánchez) allows her friend and colleague Rosa (Rosa Estela Juárez Vargas) to use her apartment to film a television interview. When no-nonsense Tere and her waggish cellist daughter Luisa (Luisa Pardo) join in the process, the recording opens up a quietly revealing space—despite persistent technical hiccups and sound disruptions. Confirming his status as one of contemporary international cinema’s most skilled balancers of realism and subtle absurdity, Mexican filmmaker Nicolás Pereda (Lázaro at Night, NYFF62) has crafted a gratifyingly funny, minimalist tale about music-making that keeps uncovering new edges—it’s both a feminist-minded domestic comedy about professionally ingrained sexism and an exploration of the creative impulse itself. A Pragda release.
