Chosen for Playback: The Brooklyn Watch Party by award-winning actor John Turturro, Pietro Germi's Academy Award-winning black comedy Divorce Italian Style (1961) tells the story of a Sicilian nobleman unable to legally divorce his wife, who plots instead to entrap her in an affair in order to commit an honor killing. The screening will be followed by a talkback with John Turturro and guests to be announced.
John Turturro is a Brooklyn-raised actor, writer, and director with one of the most distinctive careers in American film, spanning four decades from his defining collaborations with Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever) and the Coen brothers (Barton Fink, which won him Best Actor at Cannes, Miller's Crossing, The Big Lebowski) to blockbusters and acclaimed TV. He has also directed his own features, including Romance & Cigarettes and Fading Gigolo.
