Everything Seemed Possible

Wed, Jun 10, 2026
    Part of
  • Everything Seemed Possible + Short Films of the Puerto Rican film unit
  • and
  • BAM Film 2026
Directed by Ramón Rivera Moret (2025)
Puerto Rico’s Division of Community Education produced a series of award-winning films in rural communities throughout the 1950s and ’60s, portraits of a utopian vision for a new country.

Todo Parecía Posible (Everything Seemed Possible) interweaves director Ramón Rivera Moret’s family story with the vital and poetic narratives of these films, reflecting a generation’s urgent desire to build the country anew. The film becomes a meditation on memory and the legacies of images—how cinema travels across generations and how the past continues to press upon the present.

Followed by a Q&A with director Ramón Rivera Moret, producer Oren Rudavsky, La Brega host Alana Casanova-Burgess, moderated by Screen Slate editor Nicolas Pedrero-Setzer
