Rosa de Areia

Arguably the most abstract of collaborations between Reis and Cordeiro, Rosa de Areia again pays tribute to the people of Trás-os-Montes, invoking not just the area’s inhabitants but a wide variety of texts from figures like Montaigne and Kafka. Through its textured, fragmented style, Cordeiro and Reis present the north-east region of Portugal as not just a tangible space, but more conceptually as a venue for a sacred blurring between the real and the fantastical.
