Southern Oracles

No matter where you live or where your travels might take you, there’s always a South Side—and that’s more than just a part of town or a point on the map. Southern Oracles, a multidisciplinary concert by The Black Air Poets, zooms in on the touchstones and mythology of South Sides everywhere: neighborhoods, music, history, culture… all things conceptually south. Conceived and produced by slam poet and author Scott Woods with music director and drummer Dr. Mark Lomax II, this artistic journey fuses jazz, hip hop, poetry, and dance to transport audiences into special spaces, interrogate social memory, navigate political ironies—and finally get to the bottom of what to serve at a cookout.
