How can I become a BAM member?

What are the terms of membership at BAM?

All purchased BAM memberships are active for one year from the date of processing through the end of the month. They are non-transferable and non-refundable. Benefits are subject to change.

Can I share my membership benefits?

Memberships are non-transferable; limit one membership card per household.

When will my membership benefits go into effect?

When you purchase a membership over the phone or onsite at BAM, your membership will become active within 48 hours. When you purchase a membership online, your benefits will be active immediately. For information regarding www.BAM.org/IDNYC.

How do I access my membership card?

In an effort to reduce plastic usage, BAM has switched to providing a digital membership card that can be saved on your mobile devices. Once your membership is active, please follow these instructions to access your card:

1. Make sure you have either the Apple Wallet (Apple Store) or WalletPasses (Google Play) app installed on your phone.
2. Go to this special login page.
3. Log in using your BAM.org login credentials.
4. On iPhone: Your membership card will pop up. Select “Add,” and it will appear in your Apple Wallet.
On Android: Your membership card will begin downloading. When complete, it will appear in the WalletPasses app.

Will I still be able to request a physical membership card?

Please email membership@BAM.org or call 718.636.4194 to request a physical card. Please allow up to two weeks for printing and mailing.

What should I do if my membership card is lost or stolen?

Contact the BAM Membership office at 718.636.4194 or membership@BAM.org. Please allow one week for printing and mailing the replacement card.

What should I know about the numbers on the front and back of my card?

The circled number on the front indicates your membership level (Levels 1-5). The Member ID on the back is used to secure your film discounts and to set up a BAM.org account to purchase live performance tickets and accompanying discounts.


Cinema Benefits

How do I get 50% off regular-price film tickets (Level 1, 2, 3)?

Level 1 members can purchase one (1) half-off regular-price movie ticket. Level 2 and 3 members can purchase up to two (2) half-off regular-price movie tickets. Purchase tickets on BAM.org or by presenting your digital membership card at the BAM Rose Cinemas box office. The discount applies to a regular-price ($16) adult ticket and cannot be combined with other discount offers such as bargain matinees, seniors, BAMkids Movie Matinees, veterans, or students. Exclusions apply for special screenings. Members receive a $5 discount on tickets to BAMcinemaFest, BAMkids Film Festival, and other special screenings, such as The Met: Live in HD.

How do I get free admission to the movies (Level 4 and 5)?

Level 4 (cardholder only) & Level 5 members (cardholder(s) plus one guest, to a maximum of two people) can attend regular screenings at the BAM Rose Cinemas or the BAM Harvey Theater. No ticket purchase is necessary. Simply present your digital membership card at the BAM Rose Cinemas entrance or the Steinberg Screen at the BAM Harvey Theater. Space is held for Level 4 and 5 members, even for sold-out screenings. We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes prior to the film’s start time. Additional tickets must be purchased at full price. Exclusions apply for special screenings. Level 4 and 5 members must purchase tickets to BAMcinemaFest, BAMkids Film Festival, and other special screenings.

Do members get discounts for The Met: Live in HD and National Theatre Live screenings?

BAM members at all levels receive a $5 discount for HD screenings. Tickets can be purchased by calling Ticket Services at 718.636.4100 or logging in to BAM.org.


Live Performance Benefits

When are the member discount days?

The member discount days can vary between productions, but generally include 20% off during the first month that tickets are on sale to BAM Members. Members receive production and season announcement emails which include information about member discount dates.

How do I get my 50% off same-day live performance tickets?

BAM Members can purchase up to two same-day tickets per performance at a 50% discount, subject to availability and not to be combined with other offers. Rental events by visiting presenters (non-BAM presentations) are excluded.

Tickets can be purchased by logging in to BAM.org (starting at 12:01am) or by calling Ticket Services at 718.636.4100 during regular business hours. To find out if 50% off same-day tickets are available, contact Ticket Services at 718.636.4100, visit the box office, or see Upcoming Events. Log in to your BAM account online, or use your Member ID over the phone or at the box office to secure your discounted seats. Limit two tickets per membership per show. May not be combined with other offers and subject to availability.

How do I find out about Member Mingles, special screenings, and other member events?

To view all upcoming member-only events such as Member Mingles, dress rehearsals, and the annual member event, see Member Events. Invitations to member-only events are delivered by email to all members with an active email. To add or update your email address, click here.

How do I get special access to orchestra seats (Level 5)?

Level 5 members can gain special access to orchestra seats by calling Ticket Services at 718.636.4100 at least two weeks in advance of the performance date, subject to availability.

How many live performance tickets can members purchase?

For half off same-day tickets, members may purchase two tickets per show—one for themselves and one for a guest. For all other live performance tickets, members may purchase eight tickets.

Automatic Renewals

What is BAM's Automatic Renewal Program?

Enroll in our Automatic Renewal Program and your credit card information will be stored in a secure database and charged annually to renew your membership. By enrolling, you're guaranteeing that your membership never lapses—and that you won't miss out on your BAM member benefits. You're also helping to save our resources and lessen our environmental impact by reducing the number of paper notices we send. Save time and enjoy uninterrupted benefits—and don't worry, we'll send you a reminder before we charge your card.

How do I enroll in BAM's Automatic Renewal Program?

Simply check the box indicating your enrollment when you are purchasing your membership.

Can I sign up for Automatic Renewal if I'm not renewing my membership at the same time?

Yes! Just contact us at membership@BAM.org or 718.636.4194.

Why isn't Automatic Renewal an option when I renew online?

Memberships expiring within five days of the date of renewal are not eligible for online enrollment. Contact us at membership@BAM.org or 718.636.4194 and we'll take care of it.

What if I change my mind?

If you wish to opt out of Automatic Renewal, you can simply contact the BAM Membership office at any time prior to your current membership expiration date.
