DanceAfrica in the Classroom: Inclusive
Education

GRADES K—12

Get on your feet! Students of all ages engage in dance-making as they explore different cultures from Africa and its diaspora, guided by a BAM teaching artist team composed of a percussionist and choreographer. Each residency focuses on the music and dance of a specific country highlighted in BAM’s DanceAfrica Festival—and includes the opportunity to attend a special matinee performance of DanceAfrica just for schools!
This exuberant residency cultivates artistry in every participant.
This year, DanceAfrica in the Classroom is specifically designed to be more inclusive in order to expand access for students with learning differences.

BAM teaching artists allow student’s learning styles, needs, and abilities to shape how the residency is structured. This program includes a full in-school residency of 14 sessions, each 45—60 minutes long, and attendance at a school-time DanceAfrica performance.

Please contact Ava Kinsey at akinsey@bam.org to enroll.
