BAM and New York Live Arts present PRIDE 2020: The House Party with Everybooty

Two powerhouse Pride parties combine as BAM and New York Live Arts join forces for a celebratory night of drag, dance, music, and more. Hosted by Andre J., Tyler Ashley, aka the Dauphine of Bushwick, and Raja Feather Kelly, this free digital event features talent from across New York City—including Migguel Anggelo, Bubble_T, DJ Shirine Saad’s Gyal Tings, the House of LaBeija, the Illustrious Blacks, OOPS!, RAGGA NYC, Papi Juice, and Switch n’ Play. Party attendees can choose to watch the post-show digital dance party or participate on the live feed on Zoom. If you would like to participate and be seen on the digital dance floor, please make sure to create a Zoom account in advance of the event. Instructions on how to join will be announced during the party.

This partnership was inspired by choreographer and dancer Bill T. Jones and his relationship with the two performance presenters. A BAM artist since 1983, Jones is the artistic director of Live Arts. The partnership exemplifies the necessity for communities of all kinds to come together during this public health crisis and national movement against racial injustice. BAM and Live Arts stand proud of their LGBTQIA legacies and in solidarity with those fighting to dismantle systemic racism and end violence against Black and brown people.

All donations raised during the event will be split between Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in the name of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company co-founder Arnie Zane, GRIOT Circle, and Black Trans Femmes in the Arts.

Origin
The Everybooty Story

Inspired by the boundary-busting Pride festivities of San Francisco and a sense that NYC was missing a truly queer pride celebration, Spank (Sean Bumgarner, William Lynn, and Jason Roe), Hey Queen (Sarah Jenny and Avory Agony), and Pussy Faggot (Earl Dax) came together to launch EVERYBOOTY in 2011.

We Set Out Early...: The Works of Bill T. Jones /Arnie Zane Company

This special collection from the BAM Hamm Archives includes seven performances by the acclaimed company that, more than once, has been in the crosshairs of profound, fractious social conversations: identity, race, sexual politics, rethinking history, and the very place of art in a country still striving to earn its name as a modern democracy.
