Crooklyn
Spike Lee gets semi-autobiographical in this singular 1994 film jointly written with his sister Joie Lee and brother Cinqué Lee. Woody (Lindo), a struggling musician, and Carolyn (Woodard), a schoolteacher, raise their children in 1973 Bed-Stuy, their hopes, dreams, conflicts, and losses play out against the backdrop of a close-knit neighborhood depicted knowingly and lovingly, populated by a memorable cast of characters.
Join us for a post-screening Q&A with the film’s co-writer Joie Lee, whose story the screenplay is based on.
