A “metal fetishist” driven mad by maggots wriggling in the wounds he has created by driving metal into his flesh runs out into the night and is killed by an automobile. The driver, a businessman, buries the corpse with his girlfriend’s help, but soon begins to discover metal thorns and scabs erupting on his own body. A cult classic written, directed, edited, and produced by Shinya Tsukamoto, Tetsuo: The Iron Man earned a reputation as “one of the most pulverisingly effective sci-fi horror films of the past quarter of a century” (Sight & Sound) and comparisons to similarly transgressive works by Sam Raimi, David Cronenberg, and David Lynch.
