A high-stakes crime drama with a potent supporting cast of veteran actors and real-life rappers, Training Day premiered at the 58th annual Venice International Film Festival in 2001; Washington picked up an Academy Award for Best Actor and Hawke was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
