During Nigeria’s civil war, writer and activist Wole Soyinka is imprisoned without trial by a military regime determined to silence his dissent. Enduring solitary confinement, torture, and deprivation, he refuses to surrender his commitment to justice, drawing strength from memories of his earlier life as a writer and public intellectual. In secret, he records his experiences on scraps of paper, which are smuggled out of his cell. His words become a beacon of hope and a call to action for others living under oppression, in this work based on the harrowing prison memoir by Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka.
