With
Ryan Gosling, Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, Milana Vayntrub
School-teacher-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace (Gosling) awakes on a space station with no memory of who he is or his mission. As fragments of memory return in bursts, he pieces together his objective to reverse the impact of a space event that hurled Earth into the early stages of an Ice Age, and soon realizes he may not be alone in his quest. Based on the novel by Andy Weir (The Martian), Phil Lord and Christopher Miller’s adaptation invokes elements of puppetry and practical effects in its conjuring of Grace’s companion, propelling a visual style reminiscent of some of sci-fi’s trailblazing works.
