The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension

May 16—20, 2026
    Part of
  • Pynchonesque
  • and
  • BAM Film 2026
Directed by W.D. Richter (1984)
With Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Ellen Barkin, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Lloyd
Buckaroo Banzai (Weller), a cartoonishly over-qualified physicist, neurosurgeon, test pilot, and rock star, must stop alien invaders in this campy sci-fi cult film. Pynchonesque in its overly wacky plot, screenwriter Earl Mac Rauch's genre pastiche is also a reflection of the novelist’s taste for low-brow, pulp, and the sci-fi that colored his youthful media consumption.
