Margaret - Extended Cut

Sat, Jul 19, 2025
    Part of
  • NYC 2000s
  • and
  • BAM Film 2025
Directed by Kenneth Lonergan (2011)
With Anna Paquin, J. Smith-Cameron, Mark Ruffalo, Jeannie Berlin, Jean Reno, John Gallagher Jr., Allison Janney, Kieran Culkin, Cyrus Hernstadt
Written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan (You Can Count on Me, Manchester by the Sea), Margaret illuminates the aftermath of a fatal accident involving a pedestrian hit by a bus. Lisa Cohen (Anna Paquin), a New York high school student who not only witnessed the accident but also may have caused it, reaches out attempting to make amends, involving numerous others in her emotional turmoil. Shot in 2005, Margaret was tied up for years as Lonergan attempted to make a final cut, and screens here in his authorized extended cut—validated by critical approval and viewed by some as a quintessential post-9/11 New York City film.
