Aiming to ruin the western town of Rock Ridge in order to steal the land, corrupt politician Hedley Lamarr (Harvey Korman) sends a gang of thugs to shoot the sheriff and trash the town—and convinces the governor to appoint a Black railroad worker facing execution as the new sheriff. But Sheriff Bart (Cleavon Little), assisted by alcoholic gunslinger Jim the Waco Kid (Gene Wilder), uses his quick wits to turn the tables in this classic comedy directed by Mel Brooks with a script co-written by Richard Pryor, nominated for three Academy Awards and now viewed as an all-time cinema classic.

Series curator Steven W. Thrasher introduces the screening on June 9.
