Laila’s Birthday

When government cuts force a judge (Mohammed Bakri) to make a career pivot, Abu Laila finds himself driving a taxi in the hectic streets of the West Bank. On the day of his daughter's birthday, his wife insists that he needs to be home early with a present and a cake. The proud ex-judge embarks on a sprawling urban odyssey plagued by gridlock, disorderly passengers, and the myriad plights affecting daily life under occupation.
